Latest technique in inlay fabrication by heat cure composite resin |

Pradip Ray, Dibyendu Mazumdar Though various kinds of restorative materials have come to the field of Dentistry for the preparation of inlay, cast gold restoration is still the material of choice for inlay.
With the increasing demand for esthetic restorations, now researchers are trying to fabricate inlay with composite resin by conservative cutting of tooth structure. It still didn't attain general acceptance because of multifactorial reasons, of which the two-main causes are massive setting shrinkage and poor surface hardness. But with the advent of a new heat cure composite system, the drawbacks associated with conventional composite resin are eliminated.
The present study will deal with the technique offabrication of heat cure composite inlay. |

Study of root canals and their configuration in maxillary second permanent molar |

Ramesh Arora, Vimal Rant Sikri, Charanjit Singh Bal The present invitro study was undertaken to assess the configuration of mesiobuccal and distobuccal roots canals in maxillary second permanent molars. Fifty teeth were studied by the radiographic method and 50 teeth were studied by the decalc cation method. Radiologically in mesiobuccal root, two root canals were found in 78% and 20% of the specimens in mesiodistal and buccolingual direction respectively. In the distobuccal root, 2 root canals were seen in 4% and 6% of the specimen in mesiodistal and buccolingual direction respectively. By decalcification method, 2 root canals were found in mesiobuccal root in 66% of the specimens, distobuccal root exhibited two canals in 4% of the specimen studied. The configuration of root canals also varied in both radiological as well as decalcification method. It is concluded from the present study that mesiobuccal roots of maxillary second molar exhibited automatically variations and aberrant findings in the root canals. Greater care should always be exercised to locate the extra canal in these roots. |
