Wishing all a very Happy Indian Provincial New Year. Wishing for peace, happiness and smile always.
The choice of crown as post endodontic restoration is again challenged. It is a very old debate. The use of onlays, endocrowns and even modified onlays are coming up. The advent and use of newer bonding materials in consumption with better ceramics and indirect composites are leading to better restorations. Now previously an impossible to restore tooth can be restored efficiently and functionally. But the longevity and predictability - only time will tell. The research should go on stronger than before in clinics and in laboratories.
Full ceramics should be bonded. The use of virtual bond in zirconia is also coming up very fast. But restorability of tooth is the ultimate priority before starting any treatment. So please put a fixed goal in mind.
There are and always will be need of predictable subgingival bonding and predictable bonding to cementum. If we can achieve an optimum and reproducible bonding to semi moist dentin and cementum, that will be the future to dream of.
Praying for all.
