The objective of the present study was to assess the apical seal after removal of partial portion of root canal filling material for post and core preparation. In this study, 20 teeth were subjected to dowel space preparation after obturation by lateral condensation method and Rolled gutta percha technique. Autoradiographs were prepared to assess the degree of apical leakage by isotope penetration. On comparison, isotope penetration results obtained, were statistically highly significant, indicating that lateral condensation of gutta percha along with Zinc oxide eugenol as a sealer provided satisfactory sealing of the root canal, causing least disturbance at the apical seal.
