It is very important to control caries in school going children. An attempt has been made by conducting the survey, in school going children in Amritsar city, so as to know various contributing factors for the initiation and progress of dental caries in children. As all most of the children taking sweets were having carious teeth and only 31 children out of 1050 examined were not in the habit of taking sweets, the situation is quite alarming. Among the children taking sweets the maximum number was of children taking sweets thrice daily, whereas children taking fruit regularly showed very less lesions as compare to children not taking fruits. Hence, awareness must be brought among the children regarding their dietary habits and bad effect of sticky diet must be brought in their notice, so that healthy children can make healthy nation.
